Classy Clasps, Connectors & Findings

What a GREAT Class this is! You will learn to make your own clasps and connectors for making bracelets and necklaces which will give your pieces a very unique and distinctive look. This is a wire bending / wrapping / texturing / pounding we'll have fun class.

Initially we will be working with 16 and 18 gauge round dead soft copper wire which will be provided. You will also have an opportunity to use 14 gauge copper wire. I prefer using this gauge because it makes pieces with greater strength. If you decide you want to make some out of silver you may bring your own (dead soft 14, 16, 18 and 20 gauge) or there will be some available for you to purchase by the yard in class.

ABILITY LEVEL: Advanced Beginner Plus This class assumes that you have worked with wire previously and are familiar with it...you're apt to be quite frustrated. If you are not sure I suggest you take the Basic Wire Skills Class.

Making Beads out of Wire...Then Making a Necklace

In this class we will experiment with making all sorts of beads out of wire which will then be made into a necklace. We'll wire wrap, coil, and do all unimaginable things with wire to create unique pieces. We will be working with 14-20 gauge copper wire which will be provided. If you wish to make beads out of silver wire I suggest you bring about 5-10 feet of each, or you may purchase some in class. Because so much wire is needed for this project, please CONTACT ME if you are going to want silver so that I will be sure to have enough on hand.

Making Freeform Pendants and Pins...

To quote one of my students, "Wow, what a class! I learned to do so much with wire...and the necklace I made is amazing!"

In this class we will learn to "go with the flow", allowing ourselves to let the wire flow freely while creating a freeform piece that will definitely be one of a kind. We'll start with a long piece of wire, an intention, and go from there. The pieces you make will be unique and stylish, be it a pin (fibula) or pendant for a necklace.

We will be experimenting with 14, 16 and 20 gauge copper wire which I will be providing, then onto silver if you wish. If so, please bring your dead soft silver or you may purchase some in class by the yard. If you are going to want to buy silver in class, please let me know so that I can be prepared. Also be sure to bring some beads that you might like to incorporate in your necklace or pin...just in case. Oh...we will have fun!

ABILITY LEVEL: Beginner/Intermediate. This class requires that you have worked with wire previously & are familiar with it. If not, I suggest taking the Basic Class first, allowing yourself some time to become familiar with the tools, wire, and practice your skills.
